Later this afternoon we were scheduled to fly to Brisbane. Meanwhile, we had a few hours to kill so we decided to call up an Uber and head over to Bondi Beach for the morning. The white-sand crescent of Bondi is an iconic Australia beach and it only took about a 20-minute drive to get there. We spent a couple of hours walking up and down the boardwalk, stopping at the different venues. Interestingly, in March 2020 a couple of months after we were there, the Government of New South Wales closed Bondi Beach to slow the spread of the coronavirus in New South Wales. We didn’t learn anything about Covid until we were back home and well into the new year. click picture to enlarge After lunch at a local McDonald’s it was time to Uber back to our hotel, pack our suitcases and again Uber to the airport. Our flight was Qantas QF542, departing Sydney at 5:30 pm and arriving Brisbane at 6:00 pm (1 ½ hours). Departing Sydney and arriving Brisbane on time, we picked up our checked suitcases and went in search of the Airtrain terminal in the airport. Found it easily and boarded the first train to Brisbane Central. Our hotel for the next couple of nights was the ibis Brisbane, located at the heart of the Brisbane central business district. We choose this hotel due to its proximity to the Airtrain downtown stop, the Treasury Casino and it’s 3 blocks away from the Central Train Station from where we’ll be boarding the Spirit of Queensland in a couple of days. click picture to enlarge |
