After enjoying the luxury of traveling on the Spirit of Queensland the evening before, overnight and most of the day today, we arrived at Cairns at 4:30 pm. The region of Cairns is considered the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and Wet Tropics World Heritage Rainforest, both of which we were planning on experiencing during our short stay.

Even though our hotel was less than a mile from the station, we did not feel like a vigorous walk was in order, so it was Uber to the rescue again. Ten minutes later we were checking into the Cairns Harbour Lights, our hotel for the next two nights.

The Harbour Lights occupies prime real estate right on the water adjacent to the Reef Fleet Terminal which is the main check-in point for all reef trips. Most Reef Operators have a desk inside the terminal. This was very convenient for us as we had a Great Barrier Reef Snorkeling Cruise booked out of the terminal for tomorrow morning.

Not too ambitious this evening so we walked the harbour front. Found a small restaurant just down from the hotel and had a light supper. Going to be on the reef for most of tomorrow so off to bed early.
